Victoria Park 5, Maidenhead 10 & a scattering of parkruns

Bar the Victoria Park 5 and Maidenhead 10 the Easter bank holiday weekend was all about parkruns, with club members winning five out of 13 of these races featuring Heathsiders, while Mo and Michael took part in the first Watford Open of the season last Wednesday.

It appears Heathsiders took advantage of the parkrun enterprise to integrate some 5k races into their bank holiday plans, with club members turning up in results for parkruns across the UK and winning a fair few, too. Tom looks to have set a course record in the relatively young Guildford parkrun, while Jacob ran his third 5k equivalent race in as many weeks in Edinburgh, which was also the fastest of the lot. Rick, Rob, Dan and Ed won local parkruns to chalk up five victories for the club in the race format this weekend. Elsewhere George and Julian ran the Maidenhead 10 on Good Friday, while a handful of Heathsiders raced the Victoria Park 5. I’m told there was a problem with one of the mats at that race, so many of the “chip to chip” times showing up on the stuweb website are/were out of sync by 52 seconds, and are/were being corrected. Subject to final checking, the gun to chip times were said to be correct. Incidentally, only two Heathsiders turn up in the results, excluding Leigh who was in her Windsor vest, but thanks to Philip Bentley’s photos from the event I was able to find Anthony Chin’s result. And the person in the photo who for some failing of logic on my part I did not think was in the results and therefore called the mystery man ... is Adam Mitchell. Down in the results as a full and proper Heathsider.
