About US

We’re a friendly bunch. And you’re welcome to join us. We have athletes at the very top of their game – competing for their country, and many more that are new to the whole thing. With nearly 600 members, including about 100 young athletes, you’ll always find someone at your level to train with.

We compete on the road, in track and field, and in cross country and triathlon. And we’re just as proud of our lively social scene.

We’re ‘run’ by volunteers – everyone gives up their time to help the club.

We’re scattered across North London including:

Haringey including Crouch End, Finsbury Park, Highgate, Muswell Hill, Hornsey, Harringay and Tottenham.
Camden including Hampstead, Highgate, Kentish Town and Primrose Hill.
Islington including Highbury, Holloway and Tufnell Park.
Hackney particularly Stoke Newington, Dalston and Stamford Hill.
We also have members in Enfield, Barnet and Brent.

We’re a local club

We organise our own open meetings and support local events like the YMCA Crouch End 10k. We take turns hosting league cross-country races, and regularly send volunteers to lend a hand at races in the city.

The history of our club

London Heathside grew out of the merger of North London AC and Muswell Hill Runners in April 2000. Muswell Hill Runners went back to 1981, while North London AC was even older – they formed in 1972.

North London AC was in fact formed from another merger, this time between Camden Athletic Club (formerly Wigmore Harriers) founded in 1885, and Hornsey Athletic Club (formerly Hornsey St Mary’s Harriers) who started out back in 1904.

Wigmore Harriers were the work team of the Victorian Jelly Mould company Benham & Sons located on Wigmore Street in London’s West End. Wigmore Ladies eventually split and re-located south of the river to become part of Blackheath and Bromley AC.

Our North London roots go deep – we’ve been running for 134 years and counting.
