Gabi sent in this report “It is the start of the multi sport season (yay)  with the European Duathlon Champs last weekend in Punta Umbria, Spain.  Three Heathsiders qualified last year to race for team GBR  and made the trip out for some racing and  much needed sunshine.  We were ably supported by John Driscoll who was there supporting non Heathside daughter Kate who won a bronze medal in the 16-19 age group sprint.  Karina, having posted the second fastest female bike leg of the day  was just 11 seconds away from gold medal and Elinor came away with bronze in her age group.  “

British Masters Indoor Track and Field and Winter throws Championships 2020 7/8 March 2020

Scarlett reported on this event: Tony K ran the MV55 1500  on Saturday, and has taken quite a chunk off Peter C's club record with a fantastic 4.59.97.

I was hoping to do well in the MV45 800  but had one of those weekends where my mental health was sabotaging my aspirations. With 250m to go, myself and fellow VAC member Matthew Preston clipped spikes, both of us managing to stay upright. This was enough to rouse me from my stupour and try to claw back a few places AND remember there was a club record to be had. I ended up 5th in 2.13.13, taking a few seconds off Tony K's mark.

Mark Lawrence was also there, jumping 5.88m to take silver in the M45 long jump, completely obliterating the previous club record

UK CAU Inter-Counties XC, Prestwold Hall, Loughborough 7th March 2020
7 Heathsiders represented Middlesex in the annual Inter-counties race against teams from across the UK.  As you would expect they were faced with a course coated in thick sticky mud creating exceptionally hard running conditions.  If you watch any of Mark Hookway’s youtube videos you can see the difficulties runners had negotiating the course especially with many only recently run the National Championships.  Never the less the Heathsiders did themselves proud with Tom Aldred, Thomas Archer and Hattie Munday all the second Middlesex runners home.  Thomas was slightly disappointed with his 17th place but many fancied runners struggled on the day on what has been an exceptionally long and hard season.  Hattie Munday’s 65th place in the U13 Girls race finishing ahead of Hillingdon’s Asmaa Abdirahman was a great demonstration of her continued development this season as was Spike Blake’s 74th place in the U15 Boys.
