New indoor club records and PBs in St Albans

It was relatively quiet week.  Although there are only 3 events to report on, the quality made up for it, with Rosa Serafini setting a new club record at the indoor 800m, numerous PBs in the first race of the club road race series at St Albans, and a great run in the Victoria Park 10k by Jessica Vinluan.  

South of England Indoor Championships, Lee Valley Jan 20th

Jacob sent in the following report from the South of England Indoor Championships:

“The indoor season is getting going, with a major championship just up the road at Lee Valley.  In her first race as an U20, Ella Conlon ran the 400m, alongside sister Naomi.  Whilst Rosa Serafini took on the 800m, finishing second in her heat, and impressively breaking her down indoor club record by two seconds.”

Fred Hughes 10

Seventeen Heathsiders made the most of the sunny Sunday morning to run in the Fred Hughes 10 road race around the countryside near St Albans.  Judging from the PBs reported on Strava, as well as the smiles on the post-race photo, conditions appeared to be excellent. 

Joseph Clemoes led Heathsiders home in 1:01:11, soon followed by Scarlett Parker (1:01:26) and Mark Jefford (1:05:11).  Liam had an excellent run to set a 3 minute PB (1:06:32).  Sara Black led the women home (1:07:54), also coming 3rd in her age category, followed by Louisa Pointon (1:10:56), who set a 4 minute PB, and Tammela Platt (1:15:33),  who set a new course PB.  Prize for Heathside’s biggest PB of the day goes to Rachel Scott-Halls, who smashed her previous time by 10 minutes and improved her 10 mile PB by 6 minutes.

Victoria Park 10K

Two Heathsiders ran in the Victoria Park 10k last Sunday.  Jessica Vinluan had a great run to finish in 44:06, with Simon Nichols coming in just over a minute later.

Parkruns

Many Heathsiders braved cold, grey and damp conditions to run in parkruns last Saturday.  Congratulations for first places finishes go to Olivia Desborough (Highbury Fields, 19:31), Rebecca Bunting (Oakhill, 18:44), Claire Morrisey (Oranmore, 23:35).  The full results can be found here.
