Message from Organisers
Dear Runner,
On behalf of Barnet & District Athletic Club, I have pleasure inviting your club to compete in the above cross-country race, of approximately 5 miles, which takes place on Saturday 27th November, at Trent Country Park, Cockfosters Road, Barnet EN4 0JZ. Please see an invitation attached. The race starts at 2:30pm.
This is an annual event which we are very proud to host. The Fraternity Cup was first held 88 years ago and, with the exception of a few years during the Second World War, had been contested every year ever since. Sadly, we did of course have to cancel last year’s event due to COVID-19, but now it’s back!
This is an open event and we always hope to see as many competitors as possible taking part. It also provides an opportunity for fans of cross country running to race in Trent Park, which we consider to be one of the finest venues in London! Whilst we cannot predict what the conditions will be like on the day, we hope for some more rain between now and the end of November, to ensure the course provides a true cross country experience for you all!
As usual, the event will also run in conjunction with the North West London Young Athletes League. In addition, the senior races to contest the Fraternity & Sorority Cups will, once again, also incorporate a fixture of the Chingford League, so we hope to see even more runners on the start line!
An important point to note - because of damage to the main events field at Trent Park, caused by a large event held there during the summer, it is not possible for us to use this part of the Park for the foreseeable future. Therefore, all the races will take part over an alternative course. Please advise your members, many of whom will no doubt have participated in this event before, to arrive early so that they can familiarise themselves with the new course. Course maps are attached, together with a copy of the programme.
I do hope to see you and your teams at this event. Please contact me if you have any queries.
Best wishes, Rob Scott
