Covid-19 - Tier 4 Restrictions
Sadly London has been placed in a new Tier 4 from Midnight Saturday 19th until Wednesday 30th December with Government advice to Stay Home unless unavoidable.
While this means indoor Gyms and sports facilities will have to close Outdoor Facilities can remain open for individual, family Group or 1 to 1 exercise.
However U18’s are still permitted to take part in Organised Group Outdoor Sport.
It has been agreed to suspend Club Training for the Seniors until the New Year.
The Club particularly appreciate the mental benefit our Juniors have had from returning to training after the lockdowns this year. Unless the Club receive alternative guidance from England Athletics the Junior Coaches have decided to continue to hold Training sessions for U18’s over the Christmas Holidays. However not all coaches may be available so please check before making the Journey. Be aware that the Groups will be smaller and have more stringent Hygene and Social Distancing protocols.
Club Chairman Jerry Odlin made the following statement:- “I'm sure you'll agree that the news yesterday was pretty grim for us all. In truth your committee had this week discussed the possibility of closing the club down on the moral grounds of "doing our bit" but the YA coaches were pretty adamant that the wellbeing of our youngsters would be negatively impacted if we did. So it's at least of some consolation that the Government have allowed group training for u18's to remain. We will be opening the track at FP for the u18's but i would ask all our senior members to respect that these opening times will be exclusively for the young athletes. Opening times will be confirmed shortly.
I expect a lot of us are in a sad mood following this lockdown news, not just from a running post of view but the impact it has on all of our family activities. We must make a point of staying in touch via all the whatsApp groups, FB, Twitter etc and not least that funny thing that sits in the corner of the room called a telephone.
I wish you all, as much as you can, an enjoyable Christmas and New Years break and look forward to more positive news in the future starting with Monday being the shortest day. Roll on light evenings!”
Given the high infection rate in London the Club asks members to consider whether attending training is necessary.
