A weekend of PBs for Heathside's road runners
With a good number of our members splashing through the mud at the London Cross Country championships on the Heath on Saturday (report to follow), it was a quiet weekend elsewhere for our road runners. However what we lacked in quantity was certainly made up for in quality with some well earned PBs at distances from 10k to marathon. Rob Shulman had a great run at the Luton marathon, finishing in 2hr54min which was his first PB at that distance for two and a half years, while Phil Wright ran his debut marathon in Turin in 3 hr 18min - well done to both! In Gosport, Dan Madams impressively ran the half marathon in 74min43sec, a PB for him by over 2 minutes and Anthony Hall also had a great run to get a PB at St Neots (answers on a post card if you know where that is!) with a finishing time of 78min42sec. Angela Howe was first woman at the Fraserburgh half, finishing in 86mins, particularly impressive as she apparently had to stop to avoid a rearing horse en route.
Julian Ferraro and Steve Monaghan had good runs at the Shakespeare Raceway Half marathon - a race run on a pancake flat airfield, coming in 6th and 7th places. Kevin Gadd is to be congratulated on a 10k PB at Brighton, and Hugh and Dan finished side by side at the 10k in Richmond, in just over 38 minutes.
There was a handful of good parkruns, with an award this week for the most exotic parkrun being made to Caroline and Brian Boyle who went all the way to Bradford this weekend.
