Bijl triumphs at Dorney Lake

There were few events to report this week, but the focus was on quality rather than quantity, as fine Heathside performances were witnessed including a victory at the Dorney Lake race series.

Dorney Lake 10K,  Windsor,    13/12/20

The 10K race saw a victory from Julia Bijl, and a 4th place overall and PB for U17  Jack Davis – Black.

It appears from the lap times that Julia had a good tussle with the 2nd female athlete but finished up 41 seconds clear.

The event at Dorney also included a half marathon, unfortunately Sara Black had a DNF in that race

Romney Marsh 10K, New Romney, 13/12/20

Chris Holmes put his fine training performances with the Wednesday night group to good use with a PB and a fast time for 6th place at the Romney Marsh 10K

Junior Races, Finsbury Park Track , 13/12/20

“Getting into the Christmas spirit Rachel and Russell plus the Junior Coaches provided a series of races with chocolates and medals for the participants. After the longer distances ran last week it was a chance for the sprinters to shine although maybe 300m doesn’t feel like a sprint.

The Younger Children ran 150m with Gabriel Edwards fastest with 22.6s, Freddie Burridge 24.7s and Maya Westgate 24.9s. The over 11s tackled 300m on a wet cold track with Montana Dennis and Milton Cooper running a great 44.1s while Imani Quamina was the next fastest with 44.9s and Magdeline Paitoo 45.3s.”
