Celine Bradley shatters Dingle marathon record
15.09.19 There was plenty of Heathside action on the track, roads and trails over the past week. Top billing this time is shared by our U20 star Seyfu Jamaal who ran a fine 14:59 PB at the Highgate Harriers Autumn Open on Hampstead Heath on Wednesday evening, and Celine Bradley, who not only won the very hilly Dingle Marathon in Ireland on Sunday 8th, but shattered the record by 12 minutes and came third overall in an astonishing time for that course of 2:53:35. Also worthy of mention is Andy Barnes’s first place in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park 10k on Saturday 7th in a time of 34:52.
Highgate Harriers Autumn Open, Parliament Hill, Wednesday September 11

Dingle Marathon, Ireland, Sunday September 8 (606 finishers)
Celine Bradley, in the form of her life 18 months after her first child (and still finding time to train), shattered the women’s course record by 12 minutes and came third overall. She also beat her two fast male clubmates, Steve Armstrong who came 4th and Dan Johns who came 12th. All excellent times considering that this is an exceptionally hilly marathon. Louisa Pointon ran the half in a time of 1:35, which gives her a good chance of going sub-1:30 the next time she runs a flat half.
Results
3rd Celine Bradley – 2:53.35 (PB, 1stwoman, course record)
4th Steve Armstrong 2:56.52
12th Dan Johns – 3:03:38
Great North Run, Sunday September 8th, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Nathan Doran was the first of the Heathsiders in this huge event in a PB time of 1:20:22, which he attributes to his magic Vaporfly shoes, but just might have more to do with the great training he’s doing for the October Yorkshire Marathon. He was followed among the Heathsiders by Jack Hardy. The first Heathside woman was Clare Hartley-Marjoram.

RunThrough Victoria Park half marathon, Saturday September 7
Tony Shearer was the first Heathsider home in 11thplace a PB time of 1:22:01. He was followed two-and-a-half minutes later by Nick Hodges-Gibson, who picked up a PB in the half. Nick reports: “It’s a relaxed local running event and pancake flat so thought would give a new PB a shot and take some risks as there wasn't any pressure. The perfect conditions and a gets a bit repetitive looping round 6.5 times and also it’s a little disorientating at the finish as you peel off and loop back on yourself on the final lap and as such think a few people either over or undershot the course. In the last 500m I had to dodge a poor woman who was rescuing her Whippet that had jumped in the scummy duck pond. Overall it was good fun.”
