MYAL 3#, Harrow, 16.6.24

Simon Baker sent in this report: “The Summer is now galloping past and Sunday saw the third and penultimate MYAL meeting held at Harrow.  Unlike Saturday the sun shone and that was reflected in many performances.

We finished 2nd again behind SBH who have now all but certainly retained the title.  We had age group wins in the U15G and U17W and the U17M just missed out on timing for first place by 1 point.  Individually amongst a host of PBs there were event wins for Talia Cleak (U15G 300m), Ivy Paitoo (U15G SP, JT and DT), Magdeline Paitoo (U17W 300m), ElKie Baker (U17W DT), Mikel Alexander (U17M 300m), Montana Dennis (U17M SP) and Patrick Coley (U17M DT).

Ivy Paitoo added another 8cm to her U15G Shot putt record and Elkie Baker set a new League best performance in the Discus.

Two league meetings  remain with the UYDL for U17/U20’s at Mile End on 30th June and the final MYAL at Parliament Hill on Saturday 6th July”

Tottenham Ten 10K, London, 15.6.2024

Kader Seyed came first in an incredible time of 34.39 on this fast flat 10K in North London.  Apologies to any other Heathsiders who ran – but I couldn’t search the results by club.

Chiltern Ridge Half Marathon 2024, Wendover, 16.06.2024

Mark George reported: “A handful of Heathsiders, along with some family members undertook a half marathon along the Ridgeway National Trail in Buckinghamshire. This is a hilly course ( 540 m of elevation ), and this year the terrain was muddy going through the wooded areas, although it does have the consolation of great views from the plateau of the Chiltern Ridge. Peter Gould (pictured on podium ) won the race in a close finish by a margin of six seconds, with the top 3 covered by only 10 seconds, while Ed Boden was the  first V50”

Southern Inter-Counties Schools, Stone X, 15.6.24

Simon Baker reported “A number of our young athletes represented Middlesex at the Cunliffe Cup, a competition between Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire.  Often it is a last opportunity to get a place at the English Schools Championships.

There were some fantastic performances despite the challenging conditions with wind and torrential rain between sunshine.   Rosa Cormacain who produced a blistering last 100m to overtake 3 runners broke Rose Garrett's U15G 1500m record with a time of  4:47.21 which ranks her in UK top 50.  Sam Turner improved his club record in the 1500mSC by 2s finishing in 2nd place.  Suraya Frost finished 6th overall in the hurdles.  Sam Brown produced a time of 50.47s in the 400m missing out on 1st place by 4 1000s of a second.  Elkie Baker closed the day out winning the IG Discus in a high quality competition with 5 of the UK top 10.  Her throw of 38.17m was a 1.01m PB and a new club record.”
