Heathside youngsters lead the way with cross-country league wins

To wrap up a superb cross country season our U15 and U17 female young athletes took home North West London league titles on Saturday while James topped the individual table for the U17 men. Add to that several top three results in the Mini-Marathon trials on Sunday and we know we have some fine young talent to look after.

A brief note from Russell on Saturday’s cross-country fixture, the final for the NWL YA League.

“To finish off a superb season for the young athletes both the Under 15 Girls and the Under 17 Women won their leagues. The Under 15s were so far ahead that despite missing several of their top performers they held on to win. The Under 17 competition was much closer with the team only leading by one point coming into the last fixture, but the performance of the Jackson twins (actually triplets – third is a boy) enabled the team to win on the day and thereby win the league. James Wooldridge won the overall title for the under 17 men.”

To top things off several young athletes also ran in the London Mini-Marathon trials on Sunday, held in Finsbury Park. The race is organised on a borough rather than club basis, which makes getting hold of Heathside results a bit tricky but below are results for those young athletes who made it into the top three in their category. There were quite a few, with the 1-2-3 in the U15 Girls particularly impressive.
