Battersea Park Marathon revisited
As reported last week, Garmin’s measured the 11-lap course at 26.7m, prompting much muttering among the runners, but Joe McKeown assures us it was accurately measured.
Joe writes: ‘Regarding the accuracy of the course measurement, I can confirm that the course was officially measured prior to the event…. using the 'Jone's method' (basically a calibrated bike) which is standard industry wide, rather than by GPS which is prone to significant errors (especially on a looped course). One caveat to this is the distance markers were inserted using a GPS trace for convenience and I will go back and review the placement of these as it seems there may be an inconsistency here.’
Also, the cancelled marathon that Matt Beard and Paul Beale were due to run was San Sebastian and not Valencia.
Parkruns
Eighty-two of our runners took part in 31 Parkruns last Saturday, with wins for Lucy Barnes in Gunpowder and Chloe Wilkenson in Ally Pally. Full Heathside results here.
