Middlesex Track and Field champs
Simon Baker has given us a run down on the Middlesex Track and Field Championships, which took place over the 11th and 12th May at Lee Valley:
Middlesex Track and Field Championships
“The annual County Championship weekender saw the various competing Heathsiders win a bumper combined total of 19 medals and 7 athletes crowned as County Champions. Saturday saw the Seniors, U20 and U17s compete in testing conditions at the Lee Valley track with morning rain showers turning into sunshine but hampered by a strong wind.
Following from her indoor sprint title Eleanor Ball secured a sprint double to win the senior women 100m and 200m titles with Noel O'Regan 3rd in the 200m and Claudia Bioh 4th in the 100m. Both senior men and women excelled in the 1500m with Lily Woolcock 1st and Jennifer Wing 2nd in the women and Charles Hardy 2nd and Matthew Rallison 3rd. In the field events Joel Hawes 1st in Discus and Izaiah Turner 1st in the Shot Put to add to his silver in the Discus.
Scarlett Parker produced 2 PB has he warmed up for the vet meeting on Monday.
Luke Gray won the U20M 800m as well as producing a speedy 400m. Naomi Conlon won a bronze in the U20W 400m with her sister Ella 4th. In the U17's Rose Garrett continued her fine season with the 3000m title Mimi Blake finishing 4th. Thomas Archer tested his speed finishing 2nd in the 800m in what is his first year in this age group. Oliver O'Connor also secured silver in the U17M 3000m.
Sunday saw the U13s and U15s compete with the weather much more pleasant being sunny all day. While not numerous those that did compete achieved a host of spectacular PB's, medals and valuable experience competing in a championship environment. In the U15s Fabienne Weston won a silver in the U15G Discus while Lucas Maher ran a very controlled U15B 800m to also finish 2nd in a new PB while in the 1500m Jack Davis-Black improved his PB by 7sec finishing 4th with Spike Blake in his first year as a U15 in 5th improving his PB by 11 sec. Etienne Munday produced a jump of 4.90m in the long jump finishing 4th.
In the U13 age group Tynan Parker, who broke his junior parkrun PB earlier in the day finished 4th in the 1500m. There are 4 U13 Girls competing. Issy Watkins improved her PB by over 11sec and broke the club U13G 800m record finishing 4th less than a second behind 3rd place. Hattie Munday also improved her PB by almost 8 sec and then won a bronze medal in the High Jump clearing 130 cm, which was 10cm higher than her previous best. Amara Odeogberin also improved her previous PB by over 9 sec. In the 1500m Milly Watkins improved her previous PB by over 50s to win the bronze medal.”

Great starts to the the Vet League from both the mens and womens teams, as they sit 3rd and 1st respectively after the first meet at Lee Valley. Among the host of Heathsiders taking part, Scarlett Parker posted PBs in both the 100 and 400m, while Mark Jefford, Paul Tonkinson, Emilia Vynnycky and Ruth Miller all PB’d in their respective 1500m heats and both the men and women’s 100m relay teams came out on top.
