Middlesex Vets Cross Country Champs
Here is a separate report from Paul on the Middlesex Vets Cross Country Champs for those who didn't see it on the forum.
Although most of the Heathsiders who were hoping to race the first weekend of February had their plans ruined due to the snow causing cancellation of the Watford Half, three of us got lucky by getting our race in before the blizzard. The Middlesex Vets Champs took place at the usual venue of Mad Bess Woods in Ruislip on Saturday afternoon and although it was cold and the ground was frozen there was no snow to cause problems with travel or racing.
Men and women run together in this race and approx 70 men and 25 women set off round the undulating 3 lap, 5 mile course. John and I settled in together pretty much from the start and from the end of the first lap the 20 metre or so gap between us never really changed much. Tony perhaps had the best race of the 3 of us and kept close enough behind us to ensure that the team took 3rd place, only a couple of points off 2nd. The women's race was relatively weak so it is a pity we didn't have a team, if only we'd had crystal balls and known Watford wouldn't take place! Heathside results as follows:
Middlesex Veterans Cross Country Championships, Mad Bess Woods (Ruislip), 04/02/12:
