Velodrome Half, Lakeland 50, LFOTM, Track at Watford, LICC and Herne Hill

Heathsiders didn’t let the summer holidays get in the way of participating in a good variety of race distances last week –ranging from a 50 mile Ultra in the Lake District, and a half marathon at the Lee Valley Velodrome, to the Last Friday of the month 5k. There were also some excellent results on the track last Wednesday at the Watford Open, and at LICC at Allianz Park this past weekend.  We now also have the Herne Hill Harriers Open results from last weekend.

Lee Valley Velodrome Half, Lee Valley, 30.07.17
Natan Doron ran the half marathon option at Lee Valley on Sunday (there was also a 5k, 10k and 10 miler, all i’m assuming on the one mile track.).This is what Natan said: “It was a good race. Well-organised and easy to get to. It's a bit boring because it's 13 laps around the velodrome but that makes it easy to track your progress. I found it useful as a staging post to the Great North Run. I was happy as I didn't really push myself and found it quite comfortable getting under 90 minutes. It was a bit too windy and cold for my Heathside vest this time round.”

Lakeland 50, Lake District 29/30.07.17
Rebecca Marshall completed the Lakeland 50 in an extremely impressive time over the weekend - she is the small figure in pink second from the left in the cover photo. This is what she wrote: "Anyone wanting to see most of the Lake District in a day should try the Lakeland 50 (thats 50 miles not kilometres)! The race starts near Pooley Bridge and takes in picturesque fells and valleys including 3000m of ascent before finishing in Coniston.  Luckily conditions were dry on Saturday but the onset of rain during the night made it difficult to tackle to rocky and boggy terrain.  I finished at 6am in 18 hours and 18 mins."

Last Friday of the Month, Hyde Park, 28.07.17
Joe Garood led home the 6 Heathsiders who took part in the Last Friday of the Month in Hyde Park on Friday, coming in 13th, in a nifty time of 17.41, Jackie Wastell was first FV55 in 22.21 and Matt Collins was 3rd V40 in 18.14.

Watford Open, Watford, 26.07.2017
Jacob sent in a short report for this event last Wednesday: “A good group turned out at Watford for the finest middle distance open meeting in the south.  A slew of season's and personal bests followed, with perhaps the star performance being Rose Garrett smashing through the 5 minute barrier to take the club U15 age group record.  With Lily and Bethany also going sub-5, there are now six Heathside women under 5 minutes this season.  “ Results listed below.

LICC, Allianz Park, 29.07.17
Saturday's LICC at Allianz Park saw amongst other good performances, Jem O'Flaherty equal the club U17 record for 800m, and Helene Kehoe came 1st in the 200m. Results listed below.

Herne Hill Harriers Open, Tooting Bec 22.07.17
These results are late in, from last weekend 22nd July. This featured PBs for Richard Macaulay, Antanas Weston and a club U17 record for Liam Garrett in the 3000m. Rufus Tansey came first place in the 100m. Heathside results are listed below and full results can be found here: http://www.thepowerof10.info/results/results.aspx?meetingid=200348
