Vets League Match, Stevenage 11th June

Adrian Essex wrote this report on the Vets League match: "The outstanding feature of the Vets League Match at Stevenage on 11th June 2018 was the huge upswing in support for the women's team, followed closely by the assault on a whole raft of club records. Oh, and the men won their match. Encourage your friends to get along to Lee Valley on July 2nd to boost our standings further.

Often in previous women's matches there have been just one or two representatives and a guaranteed last place in the match. On Monday the team was vying for a top three finish, and buoyed (am I allowed to say that) by 7 fine non-scoring performances including javelin club records for Claudia and Sarah. In the league the team has moved off bottom place to overtake E&H.

The men's team filled all the slots with some excellent doubling up, with several real runners taking slots which would normally be filled by mere sprinters. The top three teams from the first match finished in reverse order at this one, so Heathside, Enfield and Haringey and Ilford are level on league points at the top of the table, with E&H just ahead on match points. We need to overturn their home at advantage at Lee Valley on 2nd July.
