Virtual Racing Returns

We’re now well into Lockdown 3 and the running world has returned to virtual races to provide some competitive action. Two National virtual races were held over the Christmas/New Year period. The Club missed out by the narrowest of margins in the National Club Relay to progress to the 2nd round and Madeleine Minson was the 11th V50 in the British Masters Virtual 10km.

Thomas Archer who has been inducted onto the English Athletics Youth Development Program which is the first step on the Elite Talent Pathway for UK Athletes . Congratulations to Thomas and his coach Kabir.

EA Virtual Road Relay (5 Miles) 26th December 2020 to 13th January 2021

With no face to face racing allowed virtual races returned. 13 Heathsiders joined the 2,500 others entering the England Athletics Virtual Road Relays. Athletes had to run 5 miles between 26th December and 13th January. The race also formed part of a Club relay with the top 4 women and mens times being combined with the top 50 clubs progressing to a 2nd round. Afterwich the winning Club will race the best clubs from Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. The combined Heathside time of 4:09 put us in 52nd place frustratingly just 53s from 50th and qualifying for the 2nd round.

Well done to all who took part, some in pretty awful winter weather.
