Young athletes in Mile End and the club handicap
This week’s race report features the last young athletes match at Mile End and the popular club handicap in Highgate Woods. Awaiting results but also Vets League from Harrow.
UYDL 3#, Mile End, 30.6.24
A slightly depleted team headed to Mile End to take part in the last YDL match of the season. We compete in this league in a combined team with Highgate Harriers. Again a number of our young U20 and U17 athletes took the opportunity to compete against their peers and chosen events which the MYAL or SAL does not offer them. Also another chance to warm up for the English Schools with several athletes topped in the top 10 in their events taking part. This is the third season we have competed and hopefully more will take part next year particularly the middle distance runners.
The team finished 4th behind Woodford, Basildon and ATIP a combined team of Kent Clubs but by beating Dartford who finished 6th the team finished 3rd overall in the league the best ever position. There were event wins for George Saint (U20M 800m), Trey Corlis (U20M 110mH), Jasper Abbey (Highgate U20M Javelin), Lauren Russell (Highgate U20W 1500m), Montana Dennis (U17M 100mH), Suraa Frost (U17W 80mH) and Elkie Baker (U17W Discus).

Vets League, Meeting 3, Harrow 1.7.24
This season’s Vets League culminated with a meeting at Harrow’s Bannister Stadium. Another good turnout saw the team finish a creditable 3rd place.
