Cian O’Donnell 3rd in National Athletics League 200m final

There were several excellent Heathside performances over the past week but the top spot is shared by Brogan Wallace and Cian O’Donnell. Brogan took third place and ran a PB time of 2:12.90 in the 800m at the BMC Regional event in Tooting while Cian took third place in the 200 meters of the National Premiership League final in a time of 21:45.

Brogan Wallace outstanding season reached a new high in this event. She came third in the 800m in a PB time of 2:12.90, knocking 2.35 seconds off her previous PB.

NAL Premiership A and  B Final, Bedford, August 20

Cian O’Donnell took third place in this National Athletics League event. He has consistently run under 22 seconds in the 200 this season with a PB of 21:13 (and has also consistently run well under 10 seconds in the 100, with a PB of 10.41).

In the same event Oliver Newton ran an excellent 9:43:64 in the 3000m steeplechase, a race won by former Heathside stalwart Adam Kirk-Smith in a time of 9:13.05. Adam also came third in the 1500m B race in 4:01:02.

Run Through Battersea Park 10k and 5k, Saturday August 20

Christopher Gracie came 8th in the 10k in a PB time of 34:43 – one of five Heathsiders, all well under the 39 minute mark. Amy Cook was the fifth woman in a PB time of 38:30. In the 5k Ed Boden was the first V50 (and fourth overall) in a time of 16:51.

Run Through Regent’s Park 10k, Sunday August 21

Harry Owrid ran a PB time of 42:08 in this 10k, coming 11th overall.

Matterhorn Ultraks, Zermatt, Switzerland, Saturday August 20

Lenny Martin ran this extraordinarily gruelling 50km Matterhorn Ultraks race, completing the mountainous event in just over nine hours. Here’s his report:

‘The race is a high-altitude lap of the mountains around the town, going up to 3,100m at the highest point. I finished in just over 9 hours, which wasn't as fast as it might have been, but I had a wonderfully enjoyable day out. Official time: 9:07:16.’

UYDL, Meeting 4, Tooting Bec, Sunday August 7th

One we missed from two weeks ago: Simon Baker reports that several Heathsiders headed to the newly refurbished Tooting Bec Track to compete in the last UYDL match of the season.  Trey Corlis won the U17M High Jump to help the team finish 7th and 7th overall in the League.

A total of 65 Heathsiders took part in 26 Parkruns last Saturday, with wins for Johnny Forsyth (16:53) and the returning-to-form-after-injury Beth Hawling (17:47) in Highbury, Peter Gould (17:42) in Ally Pally, Conor Brown (17:27) in Shanganagh and Leo Pemberton (21:25)in Salento, Italy.
