This week’s highlight was the club’s win in the Southern Athletics League event in Woodford with 230 points (47 more than second placed Basildon). Our leading men’s sprinter Cian O’Donnell won both the 100 and 200m in times of 10:55 and 21:47 respectively, while Seyfu Jamaal won both the 1500 and 5000 in times of 4:06 and 14:46. There were also wins for Ivan Ross (pole vault), James Hamblin (shot-put and hammer), U17 Hattie Munday (a PB of 59:43 in the 400), Brogan Wallace (800) and U17 Ndidi Stewart Fraser-Uzoka (hammer).
Meanwhile, the results from the London Schools championships in June have at last been finalised: there were sprint and hurdling wins for Trey Corlis, Martha Jolly, Imani Quamina and Montana Dennis, with Martha also breaking the club age group record in the long jump with a huge 5:13m leap.
