Edinburgh marathon, Bupa 10k plus 5ks
There’s a bit of a Scottish theme to this week’s race report, led in particular by Ken Heney and an east coast adventure that, after 32.4 miles of racing (not counting training and other, non-running racing) over three weekends, culminated in the Edinburgh marathon, where Fiona also made a strong debut as part of a pack of six Heathsiders.
Closer to the Heathside base Steve came down from Birmingham to run in the Bupa 10k alongside two other club members. Pete ran in the Eton Manor 5km and others made the most of the parkruns. I had the wrong time down initially for Katherine's Finsbury parkrun, so apologies for that - it's fixed now.
I know that other Heathsiders were out and about during triathlons and swims, and I have a report from Ruth on the British Triathlon Sprint Champs in Milton Keynes to add, kindly written in the third person:
Ruth and Gavin competed in this hugely enjoyable event - great venue and weather for camping as well as for competing. It was highly competitive, being the British champs and a world Qualifier event but both did well in their age category. Although she is aiming to qualify for the Olympic distance for the Work age group champs ( NZ in October) she did enough here to qualify for the sprint race as a backup.
