Fell running & a tri up north, plus Ealing 10k & more

After the excitement of part two of our club championships on Tuesday the weekend was relatively low key as far as competitive outings by Heathsiders are concerned. The Middlesex Young Athlete road relays were the only club fixture taking place, while further afield Dan and Jayne were fell running again and Ruth pulled off a quality tri in Bala.

Results from the Middlesex Young Athlete road relays on Sunday were not out by the time I wrote this report unfortunately, but I understand that our teams did not quite make it into the medals. Jayne Sales and Dan Findlay-Robinson were back in the mountains, this time tackling the Lake District Mountain Trial (LDMT), for which Dan warmed up by running a local parkrun the day before. I hope I’m not stoking any sibling rivalry by pointing out that the race was won by Dan’s younger brother, Rhys, who is a member of the rather intimidating-sounding Dark Peak Fell Runners Club. Also up north Ruth completed a scenic standard distance triathlon in Bala, Wales, coming in third V50 to qualify for the European Championships in Turkey next year, and Rob may have run a 5km PB in the Newcastle parkrun. Andrew stayed local to run the Ealing Eagles 10k, a race that comes with recommendations.

Looking ahead to next weekend a brief word about the St Albans relays, which kick off the cross-country season on Saturday. Basic information about the venue and start time (14:45) is on our website in the upcoming fixture box and fixture section. The men's relay consists of six legs of approximately 2.5 miles each, the women's relay of four stages of the same distance. We have two women’s teams lined up to race and some men have also expressed an interest.
