Last Friday of the Month 5k, Paddock Wood Half and Sandy 10

On Friday Cathy had a great run coming first woman in the Last Friday of the Month 5k in Hyde Park in a fantastic time of 18.42, and Tony Killilea also had a good run there, finishing in 17.49 (a London Heathside V50 record for that distance).

Parkruns were well attended with 32 Heathsiders participating up and down the country. Of special note - at Finsbury Park, Tom Aldred came in first in a time of 16.15, Dan and Stuart got PBs, and Leigh came in first woman in 19.42. Asa Cusack came in first at Grovelands Parkrun in a time of 18.46.

On Sunday, in the Paddock Wood Half, three Heathsiders took part  - Joe McKeown, Chris Shipley and Patrick Waldron. Dan kindly forwarded me Chris Shipley's graphic description of how he didn’t get on when testing out the super powers of beetroot juice just pre-race, (which I’ll save you from reading, in case you are eating as you read this, but it involved a lot of leaping behind bushes).   Chris managed to finish in a very respectable time nonetheless, as did Joe and Patrick. In the the Sandy 10 in Bedfordshire, Victoria and Ollie Pound were the only Heathsiders, and enjoyed the flat fast course in ideal conditions.

Sue Rust and John Driscoll abandoned running for cycling this weekend and headed for the Surrey Hills on Sunday to take part in the 100k Cyclone Sportif - their time (including a flapjack stop) was 4:50:57.

Further afield, and a little earlier in the week Barbara had a good run in the Club La Santa half marathon in Lanzarote and finished in a time of 1.50.
