Medals aplenty at Middlesex County Championships and a Women's team win at the Vets League

This week’s report is predominantly based around track and field, with action at a number of venues and including the County Championships, Southern Counties Veterans League, and specialist 10000m and Mile events. Medals were collected across the board at the County Chammpionships in a variety of events comprising sprinting, hurdles, throwing and jumping, as well as middle distance, 19 in total from my count.

Well done to everyone

Southern Counties Veterans League -  Herts & North Middlesex     Lee Valley   9 May

Adrian Essex writes : “ There was a hugely successful beginning to Heathside’s Vets League last night.

Provisionally the Women’s team won and the men’s team were second in their respective competitions.

Two main highlights for me:-

1) the first time appearances of so many new faces ( 7 identified ) many of them in the 35 age group

2) the sight of 5 Heathside vests lining up for the start of women’s 1500m, one in each of the age groups 35, 40, 50, 60 , 70, as I was sitting changing my shoes after recording a resounding personal worst in my own 1500m participation “

Team Scores  ( out of 9 teams )

Men:- 1st Barnet 136 pts, 2nd London Heathside 119, 3rd Illford 87

Women:- 1st London Heathside 128 pts, 2nd Barnet 110, 3rd St Albans 99 )
