Middlesex Track and Field Championships 2017

The main event of the weekend was the Middlesex Track and Field Championships at Lee Valley, where we had a great turnout, a decent haul of medals and some PB performances.

Insofar as I'm able to make sense of the Power of 10 results, we seem to have the following podium finishes:

  • Naomi Conlon, third in the U20 400m

  • Third place in their 800 categories for Rosa Serafini (senior), Luke Gray (U20) and Ruairi McGonagle (U15)

  • County gold in the 1500 for Ula Cartwright-Finch (hereafter UCF, not to be confused with that thing where people hit each other), and 1500 medals for James W (second, senior men) and Antanas Weston (third, U20)

  • First place for Liam Garrett in the U17 3000, plus second for Will Griffiths in the U20s and third for Kelly Thorneycroft in the senior women

  • First for Etienne Munday in the 75m hurdles and third for Lucas Maher

  • Etienne also got second in the U13 high jump and long jump

  • Second place for Anna McAllister in the U17 high jump

  • A one-two for Casper Schulze and Isaac Tibbett in the U17 long jump

  • A stout haul of medals for Izaiah Turner (hereafter ITF, not to be confused with that thing runners are always complaining about), who got second in the discus and hammer, and third in the shot putt

On the other hand, it's possible that I've misinterpreted the results entirely and we got nowt. If anyone has any comments or clarifications to make, please send them over to the usual address (below).

If Track and Field is your thing, our team managers would be delighted to hear from you ahead of this weekend's match in Hornchurch.

Elsewhere

  • Phil H ran the Riga marathon in Latvia on Sunday: "3 hours, 5 mins - a shade faster than London, much to my relief. New club member Rebecca Marshall also ran and chopped a massive 14 mins off her pb with a 4.04 finish, with thanks to Wednesday night interval training with Martin and Jackie."
