Milton hits the front with 50m to go

Simon reports on a fantastic result at the indoor championships in Sheffield last weekend:

A fantastic run in the final saw Milton Copper win the National U15 Boys Indoor 300m title in Sheffield at the weekend.  After winning his heat running sub 39s for the first theme Milton entered the final as the 2nd fasted qualifier behind James Clark (Glasgow City).  Drawn in lane 6 in the final Milton had James on his inside lane.  James took the race out hard closing the stagger on Milton who then reacted holding his ground around the penaultimate bend as the runners broke from their lanes and with a burst of speed managed to get to the next corner in first place with James having to check.  Milton then held the inside and despite James coming again Milton crossed the line 1st a national champion in a massive PB of 37.70s.

Well done to Milton and his Coach Israel whose training group are putting together some impressive performances

Sunday League cross-country, Royston, 13.2.22

A few brave Heathsiders travelled to north Hertfordshire last Sunday to take part in the final of the Sunday league cross-country in Royston. The conditions were unforgettable, with just under 6 miles of rollercoaster hills and strong, cold headwinds on most of them.  Karina Kaufmann was first Heathside woman and first Heathsider overall, finishing in 46:10.  In the women’s team, Ruth Miller and Katie Belkin were next whilst Fabio Espirito Santo, Marco Maserati and Alex Praag were Heathside’s top 3 men.  As ever, thanks go Captains Laura and Mike for their enthusiastic support throughout the season.
