The Last Friday pf the month 5K race took place in Hyde Park in good conditions, with Filipe and Leo leading the way for the club, Filipe running a PB.
Pete Crockford celebrated his MV65 debut with a new club record, showing a nice turn of speed to pass both myself and Andy in the last 400m ( Andy virtually on the line ), despite commenting it was “ sobering to have lost a minute in a year “.

Highgate Harriers Open, Parliament Hillֶ 26. Apr
Simon Baker reports on this event and the Amanda Marlow memorial open ( below ), featuring club records by Elkie Baker, and a number of fine other performances and PB’s.
“ Lots of PB's at a very cold Parliament Hill on Wednesday with 8 Heathsiders taking part. Artie Feent-Willings, Dylan Mills both won their 300m heats with Avery Dietrich 4th but all set PB's. Abel Woldegiorgis was 2nd in the 2nd 1500m heat. In the 5000m both Jordan Marshall and Joseph Young recorded PB's with Thomas Archer also recording a sub 15:25 time.
In the field events Avery Dietrich improved his High Jump PB by 5cm to 1.65m despite the challenging conditions. In the Discus Elkie Baker improved her PB and club record by 2.14m to 31.98m the first time she has thrown over 30m and is now ranked 2nd U15G in the UK. “

“ Discus competitions are hard to find so Elkie Baker headed to the wilds of Northamptonshire to compete on the Bank Holiday and managed to set a new club record in the process throwing 32.25m, 27cm further than last Wednesday. Only 2 U15G have thrown over 32m so far this year and her throw was 5m further than the UK’s 4th ranked U15G who was also competing.”
