England Athletics U20/U23/Senior Track and Field Championships, Birmingham, 19-21 July 2024

Three Heathsiders took part in the Senior English Championships at the weekend.  Helena Stone competed in the ambulant 100m with Trey Corlis also running in the 110mH.

Leon Seale who is back from college competed in both U23 100m and 200m reached thd semi final of the 100m and set 2 new PBs on the way to the final where he finished in 5th place.

Helena reports “I had a great time at my first national championships in Birmingham on Sunday, racing in the Women's Para-Ambulant 100m Final. It's not often that I get to compete in a para-field, and it's always fun to race with para-athletes across different classifications. With it also being my first time racing in a stadium, I was very pleased to be able to deliver a solid performance under pressure, running close to my PB.”

Great performances from all and to see the Heathside vest at National events.

SIAB International, Camarthen, 20.7.24

Having secured a silver medal at the English Schools last week Elkie Baker travelled to Camarthen to join the English Schools team in the annual International meeting against the best athletes of Scotland, Wales and Ireland.  This is the first opportunity for Young Athletes to experience International competition and meet their peers from across the country.

Although the weather was atrocious with regular rain showers and limited areas to shelter Elkie managed with her third throw of 37.51m secure 2nd place and the silver medal, behind roommate and English Champion Gabriella Tcheukam, helping the English Team retain their title.
