Vets league results from Lee Valley and next vets fixture

Heathside's Veteran track and field athletes made a fair start to the league on Monday evening (14th May) at Lee Valley. Unusually for the first meeting of the season there were no defective brass monkeys to be found, although the wind did drive the pole vaulters indoors.

The women's team was again represented by just a select few of the club's grown up ladies who each took part in more than one event, and in some cases a non scoring event as well. This few, this gallant few, this band of sisters, were alas too few to score more than 34 points.

The men's team covered more events and came third behind the home team and Ilford.

There is plenty of scope for the next fixture (11th June in Stevenage) for good competition for runners, jumpers and throwers from age 35 upwards.
