3 Golds and 2 Club records at the Southerns

SEAA Southern Championships 2022

London Heathside had its best ever performance at the South of England Championships, as Jacob writes ;

“ with Cian O'Donnell winning the 100m in a huge PB and breaking the club record that had stood for 14 years in the semi final and then running an even faster albeit wind assisted time in the final, Brogan Wallace ( pictured on podium ) winning the 1500m and improving her own club record in the process and James Hamblin winning the hammer.  In the U15M 3000m, Koppany won bronze.  It's a long time since anyone at the club won gold at this big area level Championship, so to win three (and one in sprints, throws and middle distance) is a fabulous performance by all concerned “.

Carlos Mingoes also performed exceptionally well, picking up a silver medal in the long jump and making the semi finals of the 100m, and Leon Seale made the top 5 in both the U20 100m and 200m

English Schools Track & Field Cup, ESAA Regional B Final, Croydon, 15 June

Simon Baker reports : “A number of Young Heathsiders competed for their schools in the Regional B final of the ESAA Track and Field Cup in Croydon.  These meetings aren't licensed so do not appear on Powerof10 but offer schools a chance to compete against the best in the country and athletes try events they do not normally compete in.  Among some great performances were Izzy's 2:15 in the 800m which would have been a club record and Elkie's 29.07m which would be the furthest by an U14 in the UK this year and 8th furthest by an U15 Girl. “

 “Thanks to all who showed up and ran the 2022 handicap, and to all the timekeeping  / finish funnel helpers  and to the marshalling team (Dave and Simon- please pass on thanks to the marshalls too). It was great to be back on the Handicap's home turf at Highgate Wood, and a lovely evening for it!  Looking forward to next year, and congratulations to all the winners:

 PS Thanks also to my son Daniel for embarrassing me on the handicapping front. I've been moaning for years about parents and their unrealistic/indulgent handicap estimates, …

Not sure where his monster run came from, but seems like a great advert for Martin and Jackie's Wednesday night sessions which he's been attending for the last few weeks. Next year he is clearly going to get a *very* aggressive handicap.... “

Well i can say i’ve done one of the aforementioned sessions with him and i’m not surprised by his time ..
