Handicap 2015

Tuesday night saw new records for the annual 5K club handicap race in Highgate Wood, held on the second or third Tuesday in July every year. There was a record number of runners, 91 to be precise, leading to queues at the finish funnel. Next year we'll need a much longer funnel if we are to get everyone's times completely accurate. There was also a new women's course record set by Rebecca Piggott, who zipped around the undulating course in a cool 19:01. The marshals were expertly organised by David Robertson as ever and thanks must go to all of them, to the handicappers Gabi Johnson and Dan McKeown, and to Richard Peachment for arranging the post-match refreshments. Unfortunately his efforts were rewarded with a really tough handicap! Lastly special mention must go to Ed Samuel, who not only finished in exactly the same position as in 2014 (32nd), but in exactly the same time (17:18)! You can see the full results here. (NB Although Andrew Brooker was a debut runner, as he was awarded the Fastest Runner trophy, the Fastest Debut trophy was awarded to the next runner, Andy Barnes.)
