Putting the Heath(side) back in Hampstead
On Saturday we played host to 5 other teams in 4th SAL fixture of the season. Parliament Hill (which saw scenes resembling wartime Europe back in March) was the venue on this very hot, sunny day. The Heathside turnout on the day was brilliant, so huge congratulations are due to all those who took part. We had some returning athletes from last season to help bolster the ranks and a few making their debuts. It was thanks to this great showing and some fantastic performances to boot, that we were able to rackup a massive score and comprehensively win the match!
A few stand out moments from the day:
Rosa was back in action, putting in solid performances in 800 & 400m. It's great to see her back in Heathside colours and hopefully more to come in the next match.
In women's 1500m, there was a very exciting race between Rebecca Bunting and Rachel Seckl only a two tenths of a second seperating them at the finish.
Our relay teams did really well, which is impressive given these are thrown together on the day. It shows a great team spirit.
A sterling effort from the Weston family deserves a mention running, jumping and officiating, as well they contributed points, but also to the overall success of the fixture on the day.
A bit research from John F tells us that we are in a very strong position in the league and we look good for promotion. However, now is not the time to take our foot off the gas! We have one more fixture to go, and it involves the league leaders. Ryston are 1 league point ahead of us, but we have superior match points, therefore, if we win this next match, we win the league. So, whether you've been a every match this season, or if it's your first, we'd love to see you on 15th Aug.
COYH!
