Heathside men win North London XC champs
Last weekend was a quiet one for most Heathside runners but our men won the North London Cross-Country Championships, led by Barry Kelly who took first place. And 11 of our runners took part in the Sunday League.
North London Cross-Country Championships, Wormwood Scrubs, October 26
Simon Baker reports that Barry Kelly won the North London Cross-Country Championships at Wormwood Scrubs also leading the Senior Men’s Team to the title.

Sunday Cross-Country League, Barley, Sunday October 27
Emilia Vynnycky reports on the Sunday league cross-country in the fields of Barley:
Last Sunday featured the second race of the Sunday league cross-country series. The venue was in Barley – a last-minute change to the usual rollercoaster in Royston, provided by a generous local farmer. The course was perfect (at least, for those who aren't so keen on never-ending steep hills), with the perfect combination of scenery, hills, gravel, grass and peace and solitude. One astute runner (Edyta) even noticed a starling murmuration during the run.
David Lee led team Heathside home in possibly his debut at Sunday league, followed by Hugo Cox and Chris Greenwood, while further down, Bob Gould finished first in his age category (V80).
Karina Kaufmann was the first Heathside woman, followed by Emilia Vynnycky, Edyta Szot and Sue Eedle. Overall the womens team finished fourth, whilst the men finished in 12th place. Team Heathside ended the day on a high note, with Halloween costumes and cake from Laura and Emilia. Thanks, as ever, are due to Laura and Mike for their great organisation and amazing support! Parkruns, Saturday October 26
Ninety-four Heathsiders took part in 31 Parkruns last Saturday. Christopher Gracie won in Finsbury Park in an excellent time of 16:51 and it was good to see Rosa Serafini back in action in Downsview, winning in a time of 23:16. Full Heathside results here
