Regents Park 10k, Luxembourg Night Marathon, Stockholm Marathon, Hyde Park Triathlon

There isn't a main event to report this week, but Heathsiders were out and about enjoing themselves in a variety of events, including night marathons in Luxembourg,  open water swims in Hackney, and of course following the Brownlee's footsteps at the Hyde Park London Triathlon.

Standout performance of the weekend is Adam's win at the Regents Park 10k, with a time of 34min38secs especially impressive following a Finsbury parkrun win the previous day.  Jane, Sandra and Claire all raced with success at the London Triathlon, unlike some of the elite men they managed to correctly navigate the swim course,  kicking off the triathlon season in style for the club.

We had four Heathsiders at the Comrades marathon, one of the word's top endurance races, from from Durban to Pietermaritzburg in South Africa.  Most of you have read the gory details in Rob's report on facebook, it is an extremely tough race with plenty of suffering but Rob did say it was an incredible experience due to the people they met en route and the crowd support.

From Luxembourg, Henry reports:
Having completed the Midnight Sun Marathon a couple of years ago, this was the second attempt at running a marathon at that time of day for new member Daniel and me.  Starting at 7pm this proved a challenge on top of existing jet lag from a recent trip to Japan.  We ran 17 miles with the 3:30 pacer before the legs started to play the 'cramp' card so the last few uphill miles involved a combination of run/walk/stretch and jog but the incredible crowd support and numerous bands in the city centre made us forget the pain and revel in the party atmosphere all the way to the end.   The finish line was inside the LuxExpo which you enter to a fanfare of DJ beats, strobe lights, and cheer leaders.  As if that isn't enough a free beer is handed to you as you cross the finish line!  This was definitely a marathon I would recommend to anyone that might not achieve a PB but will certainly take away a night to remember!

The club champs tables have now been updated after the first 6 races of 2014.  note that your best 6 races count, and with 6 races still left there is still time to climb right up that table!  The next race is the Ickenham 5, this Sunday, followed by the Burnham Beeches half marathon on 17th August.
