Regents Park 10k, Sri Chimnoy Battersea relays, Lakeland Trails Half Marathon, Orion 5, and a near PB in New York State
There is just a scattering of results to report this week, lots of shorter races including a great result from Tammela who ran a 5k back in her home town in New York State. At Milton Keynes Clare Miller had a great run in the NSPCC Half Marathon, finshing in 88min23sec and placing third woman in what must have been very tough conditions. There was also the Regents Park 10k where despite soaring temperatures Rob Bowler achieved a PB. Daniel Szajna reports that the youngsters had great races at the Battersea park relays on Monday night with Miron, James and Daniel coming in third among the senior men, and Alex, Charlie and David storming first place in the Under 16's. Dan Madams and Steve Monaghan also ran the 5k on Monday, coming in 10th and 12th amongst a high quality field.
Further afield Phil Wright endured the heat and hills at Coniston in the Lakeland Trails half marathon which he says was actually over 14 miles long, reporting that this was a beautiful, if tough, race. Lastly, Dan, Steve and Jane represented our club at the Forest Five series in Epping forest. Maybe we can get a few more runners out next time - the last race in the series is on the first Saturday in August.
Top parkrunner of the weekend was Tom Aldred with a 15min52sec win at Highbury. We are looking forward to another fantastic handicap performance from Tom next week in Highgate woods.
On the ever increasing muti sport front Gabi took part in the Victoria Pendleton women's Cycletta sportif in Surrey, and Henry Hamilton completed his first sprint triathlon in Stowe. We also have a late result in from the previous week, where a few Heathsiders took part in Tri Roots' inaugural open water swim in the mixed ponds on Hampstead Heath.
