Watford Open, YDL and imminent SAL

A fair number of Heathsiders kicked off their summer on the track at Watford. Lily ran a PB in the 100, while everyone else plumped for the 1500. Particularly impressive were Ni'ia in her club track debut, and Tony comprehensively demolishing the club V50 1500m record.

We also have results from the previous weekend in the YDL, which sounds like some sort of dreadful right-wing organisation but is actually the Youth Development League. There were lots of personal and season's bests - hopefully they'll continue throughout the summer.

Track and field alert! Our second SAL fixture is this weekend in Cambridgeand we need everyone we can get. That does include you, whatever your standard! If you've ever had to sprint for the bus, leap over a ravine, or even throw a large-ish tortoise over some distance (for whatever reason), we can find an event for you to take part in.

Keep your eye on our Facebook page or email lheathside@gmail.com for details.

Other races

Ed Samuel scored first place at the London Spring 10K in Regents Park. As Ed's margin of victory was around two minutes, I'm guessing he didn't leave his winning move to the final couple of kilometres. We also have a result for Tom Ashby in the Geneva Marathon, where he made it round inside 3h10.

Elsewhere, Emerson and Monika did the 52-mile Malvern Hills Ultra. "We would have finished about 4 hours quicker but kept stopping to take photos as the scenery was so spectacular," said Emerson in an email noticeably lacking any photographic attachments whatsoever.
