Fleet Half Marathon 25 Mar
Phil Hogg ventured out to Fleet as one of two Heathsiders competing in the half marathon, and recorded a PB, as he reports as follows;
“ Perfect running weather in Fleet on Sunday: damp, cold, no wind, light rain. A fast course, superb organisation as always. The course has been altered, which is becoming a theme these days since the pandemic as Councils seem less willing to close roads. No longer a circular course, but still a good one. Rail engineering works required a hotel the night before, which provided an early bed and good sleep given that there isn't a whole lot to do in Fleet!
James and I had a chat on the start line, and subsequently only saw him flying past me a couple of times in the opposite direction on the course! “

Herts and Middx Vets Cross Country Championships, Trent Park, 25 Mar
The Cross Country season came to a close with the County Vets XC championships, as Martin Potter reports :
“A small but hardy team participated in the the final cross country of the season; the Middlesex Masters XC Champs at Cassiobury Park, Watford (run at the same time as the Herts Masters XC). On a wet and dreary day the first race was for the V40 to V59 men covering just shy of 10K. First home for the club was Martin Potter in 10th overall and first V50. Martin was closely followed by Adam Mitchell and the very dependable Andy Owen.
Next off was the women with the V60+ men. Jackie flew through the mud to finish well up in the field and consolidate her 3rd V55 position. Bob Gould also ran well to snatch third place in the V70 category. All the more impressive as Bob is rumoured to go up an age category in the near future. Thankfully the sun came out in time for the prize presentations. “
