After an autumn cross-country season of fine weather and firm courses, the Met League finally got wet and muddy on us this weekend: the course at Ally Pally was ugly enough to start with and wasn't improved by being cut up by several hundred runners in cross country spikes. The dreaded hill was as steep as our worst memories, the downhill sections as treacherous: just what we all needed for a really testing afternoon. Getting covered in mud was never meant to be so much fun.
Read MoreIt was a quiet weekend for Heathsiders racewise ( a different story at the Raglan knees up ) with the Southern Counties Masters cross country the main event. There was a half marathon in Delhi from Tom Bedwell and closer to home a PB for Phil Wright in a floodlit 10k in Gravesend.
Read MoreYes it's official – we are the Running Club of the Year – it says so in Athletics Weekly. ALSO, we won the mens and womens Cups this weekend at the Fraternity/Sorority XC event at Trent Park on Saturday, not to mention Tom Aldred coming first over all, and Brent Atkins 4th and Steve Monaghan winning the vet category. We also had a large presence on Sunday at the Trent Park Sunday League XC where Tom managed to come 2nd after having run to the start, along with Brent Atkins who came in 5th, and Cathy Jeremiah was 3rd lady! Full xc reports from Cap'n Chris (Saturday xc) and Gavin P (Sunday League xc) below.

Julian led our men home to second place in the Perivale 5 and is the clear Rob Jackson winner on the men's side. Also this weekend: a mighty swift 10k PB for Tom Aldred.
Read MoreIt was a week for the men: once again, Tom Aldred was the best of our 77 runners who raced at the weekend, coming second at the North London Cross Country championships in Ruislip on Saturday despite taking a wrong turn (something I can so relate-to) and then repeating the feat at the Sunday League on Sunday, with another second place.
Read MoreAn intrepid hardcore of Heathsiders made the long and harrowing journey all the way to Parliament Hill on Saturday for the London XC Championships. Looking at the day's early results, we had great performances from Liam Garrett, sixth in the U13 race, and a group effort from Lucy, Rachel and Lily, who were eighth, 14th and 17th in an U17 women's race. Both of these races had pretty impressive fields (176 and 121) so a huge well done to the aforementioned. I'm not sure we didn't have other young athletes out competing for their boroughs / gaffs / manors. If anyone knows any more than me (all right, form a queue) please get in touch!

Read MoreA hugely successful weekend of racing was completed despite wild weather and torrential rain in many places – with Dan Madams coming in first place in the Luton half marathon, and the Senior men’s team coming a great second place in the Liddiard trophy/North of the Thames XC Champs on Saturday. Elsewhere there was a wide selection of successes in road races, mountain marathons, duathlons, cross country and parkruns.
Read MoreThe road running weekend belongs to Rebecca Bunting who pulled off an impressive double: winning the Richmond Parkrun and then following that up the next morning to take home a cabbage and cash as the ninth woman overall (and first Heathsider) in the Cabbage Patch 10.
