Races are thin on the ground this week but we still had a few runners in cross country, a couple of road 10ks and lots of parkruns. Other runners mainly ate mince pies.
Read MoreCongratulations to Isaac Tibbett and Etienne Munday who competed in the Southern Indoor Championships and achieved PBs in their events. Well done for the good turnout at the Sunday league and many competing in ParkRuns.
Read MoreSeventy-five senior Heathsiders and eleven Juniors made the trip to Uxbridge for the chance to run the little-known course at Hillingdon House farm. The weather was mild, if a bit windy, and the mystery course turned out to be a gem - one sharp hill, a long downhill stretch in compensation, and some pretty serious mud - definitely one for the cross-country specialists to fight over. Consequently, there’s plenty to report, including some superb individual and team performances. So relax, pour yourself a little Yuletide drinkie, and enjoy the tales of Heathside derring-do from the farmyard. But be warned: every Christmas fairy tale has its dark side!
Read MoreThe final Heathside championships road race of the year ended in a sprint for the line, for the men and for the women – on a perfect day for racing (crisp, but not too cold and only a mild breeze).
Read MoreIn an exciting Saturday afternoon at Trent Park, with an enthusiastic Heathside turnout, we won the Fraternity Cup for a second consecutive year. The other big excitement of the week was that Lily Beckford is to be congratulated on being selected as Haringey’s Junior Sports Performer of the Year. Wonderful news Lily, and very well deserved!
Read MoreSome highlights: Ruari McGonagle had another strong performance, finishing in second place in the Boys U11 race; the Boys U15 team finished with top honors for the second straight week (WELL DONE!); and several young people competed for the first time.
Read MoreThis was another busy week, with many fantastic runs in extremely difficult and muddy conditions on Parliament Hill, as well as a handful of runs elsewhere, including a marathon in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Read MoreThere was such a good turn-out for the 2nd Met League that barely any other races get a mention this weekend. You might need a brew to accompany Captain Chris’s epic report.
Read MoreIt was a fairly quiet week for results, possibly due to it being the “lull” between the end of the Summer race season and the beginning of the pre-London Marathon preparers, plus there were no Cross-Country fixtures either. For those who did run, especially on Sunday morning, it was in very wet and windy, though still quite mild, weather conditions (in the London area, at any rate). Any results that have come to light seem to be dominated by our Veteran runners, especially at the Stevenage Marathon. Guess it was the younger members turn to have a lie-in!
Read MoreIn a richly varied week for 86 intrepid Heathside racers, pride of place goes to Jacob Philips who won the Under-17 3-mile event in the North of Thames Cross-Country championships on Saturday in an impressive time of 17.52.
