It was a busy schedule this weekend with XC relays and the latest instalment of the Rob Jackson road race championships. There were also some popular autumn marathons, but the biggest news was Tom Aldred's first place at the Amsterdam Half Marathon.
Read MoreThe big excitement at the weekend was of course the first Met League cross country event of the season, held at Claybury, where over 100 Heathsiders turned out to race in the sunshine. Among the many successes, special mention goes to Ruairi McGonagle for winning the 1500m under 11s race. Leigh James also deserves a special mention for her amazing time in the Eindhoven marathon coming in well under 3 hours.
Read MoreStaring out the window into the gloom and lashing rain it appears that, somewhat predictability, the weather’s turning just before the start of the cross country season (which will no doubt absolutely delight the hardcore at Heathside!) With the first Met League meeting of the season right on the horizon, a few Heathsiders took advantage of what may have been the last days of summer to get in some pre-season XC practice and posted some very impressive times around the country, boding well for Claybury at the weekend – most notably, Andrew Brooker romped home with top honours in a five-miler at Nonsuch Park.

Read MoreA relatively quiet week this week with half marathons beginning with R being flavour of the week (particularly for male runners whose names begin with J), and the lesser spotted 15k making not one but 2 appearances. Some great 10ks round it off.
Read MoreToo hot, too cold, too dry, too wet, too long, too short, too flat, too hilly, too tired, too – ok,ok so that was just me this week! And then there were the Invictus Games to put of it into some kind of perspective. But Heathsiders were out and about all over the place, not just in the UK (which it still is for now at the time of writing, which is on Independence Referendum night – so who knows come the morning…) but also abroad, participating in runs in Eire, Estonia, France, Italy and Poland. Maybe the club should change its name to “London Heathside International AC”! Apologies to all for the lateness of this week’s report.
Read MoreIt was a fairly routine weekend for our runners, with not much to report other than some road races and various parkruns. The triathlon season is winding down and the cross country season is yet to begin! There were, however, some excellent results at the Regents Park 10k with Jim Connell breaking 40 minutes for the first time and another cracking run from the unstoppable Cathy who was the second female finisher of the day. Caroline White and Jo Irwin also had good runs, finishing first in their respective age categories. Tom Stephenson ran an impessive time at the Maidenhead half marathon finishing with a PB of 74min12secs. We also have a PB from Mike Bironneau of 38min03sec at the Bedford 10k.
Read MoreAnother big and busy week for Heathside’s runners, swimmers and triathletes, now that most of us are back from our holidays (a quick count shows that at least 74 of our members took part in races last week).Several results stand out but none more so than Ni’ia Hothersall’s new club record for the 1500m in the Watford Open – 4:36.25. Well done Ni, and please, please, delay your departure to Aussie-land.
Read MoreWe had various Heathsiders in action this week at the Thames Meander, a trail race with full and half marathon options.
