It was a quieter weekend for racing, than last week, but still eventful, with Benjy Bediako and Suraya Frost winning gold at Lee Valley Minithon, and some great results at the South of England xc Relays and at the much loved Abingdon Marathon. And not to forget Heathside hosted Finsbury Parkrun – supplying smiles, marshalls and pacers.

Several Heathsiders won medals at the weekend. 39-year-old Tom Aldred led a field of nearly 1,000 to win the hilly Basingstoke Half with plenty to spare, while in Oxford 17-year-old Seyfu Jamaal was second in a field of nearly 12,000 in the Oxford Half – both well inside the 70-minute mark.

There was a win for England Ultra distance international Michael Stocks by a handy 2km ahead of the second placed athlete and whole 26km in front of third, in the 24HR race at Tooting, an amazing effort made even more difficult by the heavy rain.

The main news from the past weekend was the amazing performances put in by our young athletes at the Middlesex county young athletes and senior relays, where they picked up 4 gold medals. But there were also plenty of other excellent performances at races and events including the Great North Run, Tallinn Marathon, a trail marathon in Farnham, an ultra in Switzerland, the Delft World Icosathlon Champs and the World Masters in Malaga. Plus the SAL T & F award winners are announced.
