Seyfu Jamaal takes one-mile bronze on home track

Another busy week with Heathside helping host the Golden Stage Mile at our Finsbury Park track on Saturday, with Seyfu Jamaal taking third spot while Angela Pollitzer and Julia Kelk broke Club Age Group Records. Brogan Wallace, Julia Woolcock and Simon Schupbach were in 800m action at the Linford Christie Stadium. There were a host of excelent performanced at the Vet League meeting in Stevenage. Michael Kennedy came 8th in a 12-hour endurance race in Crawley and Marco Serena came third in a 10k at Queen Elizabeth Park.

MYAL #3, BFTTA Open, ESAA and more!

The big event this week was the MYAL #3 held at Parliament Hill on Saturday, where Heathside came 1st with the Juniors winning 5 of the 8 age groups and 3 new club records were made. There was also success at the BFTTA Open, with great results for all and Amara Odegberin coming 1st in the 800m. Over at Lee Valley, Trey Corlis shone at the ESAA where he won the Hurdles in a new PB and Club record of 12s as well as setting a new PB in the Shot and 800m.

First SAL post COVID, a national record, numerous wins and PBs

It was one of the busiest weekends of the year so far, with numerous results to report on, including two firsts since the start of the COVID pandemic - the first SAL fixture and a fixture abroad (the Madeira Masters)., In addition, we have fantastic news of a Heathsider being ranked first (yes, FIRST!) in his age category nationally, as well as achieving a national record in his age category. There were PBs, wins and great performances from different parts of the country, including Cornwall, the St Albans half marathon and events closer to London.

Silver for Seyfu, New London School Champions and Records galore

The season is starting to build with the Southern Championships and School Championship races taking place in what was another bumber club record breaking weekend.

Seyfu claimed silver in the Southern 5,000m with George Gurney 5th. At a hot Battersea Park Trey Corlis (JB 100m) and Imani Quamina (JG 75mH) both claimed gold with Magdeline Paitoo (JG 200m) silver. Thomas Archer was in 1500m action at Watford. Andrew Jones set a new Club best in the V55 400m. Jo Irwin recorded an Age Group win in the sprint triathlon at Eton Dorney.

Middlesex Youth Athletics League (MYAL) - Meeting 2

A lovely sunny weekend saw the Finsbury Park Track and Perivale at it's finest last weekend hosting the 2nd Middlesex Youth Athletics League meeting. Heathside again dominated winning all but one age group.

There were 21 event wins in total: Kiara Corkin (U13G 1500m), Gabriel Edwards (U13B 100m, Long Jump), Max Wassermann (U13B 75mH, Shot), Jerome Henry (U13B Discus), Mia Rosen (U15G 1500m), Martha Jolly (U15G Long Jump), Imani Quamina (U15G Shot), Ivy Paitoo (U15G Discus, Hammer), Benjy Bediako (U15B 1500m), Trey Corlis (U15B 100m, 80mH, High Jump, Long Jump) Etienne Munday (U17M High Jump), Thomas Wassermann (U15B Discus, Shot), Milton Cooper (U15B Hammer), Magdeleine Paitoo (U17W Long Jump) .

There was a great variety of action this week, with especially notable performances across the spectrum in hammer throwing, sprint hurdling, and marathon running, alongside middle distance track action, 5K and 10k road races, and a masters multi event.
