Sunday 17th June saw the club host this season’s third Middlesex Youth Athletics League meeting at Finsbury Park. In it’s second season the League grows in popularity and Sunday saw a record 687 performances and 14 meeting records over the action packed afternoon schedule.

Despite the early start and the long journey to Norfolk we had a full team except for one event (men’s high hurdles B string) so a big congrats to team captains Noelle and Tony for that.

I had intended to join the more than 1100 runners, but an ill timed IKEA delivery unfortunately put paid to that so my morning workout was restricted to flat pack assembly and swearing (but probably more sweating than the sub-40 speedsters).

Read MoreHeathside opened their Southern Athletics League campaign with a fantastic win in Cambridge where we defeated London rivals Serpentine, Ryston Runners and, most impressively, the host club, Cambridge and Coleridge.
Read MoreThe outstanding news of the weekend (along with Heathside’s triumph at the Cambridge SAL, which gets its own special report) was that Mike Stocks managed to not only run 100 miles in The Thames Path 100, but to win the race too! Other races include Hackney Half, Maratona Sant’antonio in Padua, Last Friday of the Month, Belfast marathon and a triathlon in Gran Canaria.
