Read MoreThe weekend saw the English Schools Championships the pinnacle of Youth Athletics and the club having a record representation of 11 picked by London and Middlesex to compete returning a Gold for Sam Brown in the JB 300m as well as Bronze, 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th places. Elsewhere we had athletes representing Middlesex AA at the Inter-County Championships and Cian O’Donnell improved his Club 100m record in the National Athletics League and set a new 200m mark running for Middlesex.

Read MoreIt has been a week of massive triumphs and achievements. Sarah Swinhoe and Francois Barou both made light work of the Ironman triathlon in Nice, and Sarah come 4th in her age category. There were many superb performances in the Middlesex Schools Champs and MYAL #3, the Southern Counties Vets League, the UK Athletics Champs and especially in our own Club Champs part 1 with a record turnout!
Read MoreThe weeks’ highlight undoubtedly came at the South of England Championships, where Heathside acquired 3 Gold medals through Cian O’ Donnell ( 100m ), Brogan Wallace ( 1500m ), and James Hamblin ( Hammer ), the first two with club record performances. In addition there were Silver and Bronze medal winning performances respectively from Carlos Mingoes ( Long Jump ) and Koppany Szentes ( U15 3000m ). Elsewhere there was an English Schools track & field event, fast 3000m times were recorded at Watford, and of course the Club Handicap returned to Highgate Wood
Read MoreHeathside enjoyed a high-achieving weekend on the track, roads, paths, pools and lakes. Our men’s track team won their Southern Athletics League event at Finsbury Park, with Cian O’Donnell and Hattie Munday winning man and women of the match. Cian achieved a PB of 10.6 in the 100m and a PB and club record of 21.47 in the 200. Hattie (U17) won the 800 (2:19), 1500 (4:50), high jump (1.33m) and the 1500 steeplechase in a club record time of 5:37. Meanwhile Brogan Wallace broke the club 1500 m record in a time of 4:28 in Watford, Rebecca Bunting won the Exmoor coastal trail marathon (beating all the men and women) in a female course record time of 3:47 and Karina Kaufmann became the new duathlon Sprint World Champion in the 40-44 age group and also won a bronze in the standard distance.

Read MoreThere was a vast range of distances and activities this weekend, with the MYAL and SAL taking up the bulk of the weekend for many. In the MYAL, the club hosted the Finsbury Park match and our enthusiastic young athletes rose to the challenge again with victories in all but one age group with 22 event wins. There were also some tremendous performances in the SAL. Rebecca Bunting breezed in first woman at the Hackney Half.
